Immigrants have the opportunity to attend an integration course in order to learn German. These courses are funded by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). In order to attend a course, participants will need a permit, which can be obtained from the Social Office or the Immigration Office, or be required to do so by the Jobcenter.
- The language course consists of six modules which build on each other and in turn consist of 100 lessons each.
- In the orientation course, the values and norms relevant in Germany are discussed in a further 100 lessons and participants learn about the state and Germany’s history.
Both parts finish with an exam.
The course lasts exactly one year for absolute beginners. Participants who can already speak a little German are recommended a course based on the result of an assessment.
Participants who cannot read and write (the Latin alphabet) start with a course in which they learn the alphabet.
The integration courses normally take place from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m.or from 12:15 to 3:30 p.m.
- f you pay for the course privately, 100 lessons cost € 458.
- If you have a permit from the Immigration Office or have been admitted by the BAMF as an EU citizen/foreigner who has been living in Germany for some time, 100 lessons cost € 229.
- If you are required to attend by the Jobcenter or by the Social Office, no additional payment needs to be made.
We would be happy to advise you. Registrations or reservations for the integration courses can only be made after a personal consultation has been arranged.
